About book Lord Of The Mountains (2012)

I read this (and will read the next and last for the same reason) due to momentum, I tend to have trouble letting go of stories I've gotten into. And while Stirlings first books, and the companion Nantucket books are engrossing. This one was decidedly not. Containing mostly descriptions and a bit of dialogue and action here and there. No real character progression, little plot progress. The previous book, this one and the next could just fine have been condensed into one book. This book mostly relates the events of a "murthering great battle" but does it in a way that drains all the tension away from it.We know from the last book that Rudi & Mathilda both live long enough to see their children and since they don't have any yet, we can assume they both live. The rest of the crew isn't really put into much danger. Edain, Ingolf, Mary, Ritva, Tiphaine d'Ath and all the rest are in the battle but there isn't much drama created as their respective pieces of the battle at Horse Heaven Hills go just swimmingly. Not a bad read, but certainly not up to the level of earlier entries in the series.

Do You like book Lord Of The Mountains (2012)?

Good, but not great. An important part of the long tale, but a lesser installment.
