Do You like book Marca De Nacimiento (2011)?
Birthmarked by Caragh O’Brien was an excellent read. It was very well written, full of rich descriptions, great-structured sentences, and easy-to-love characters. The plotline was just enough action, twists, and excitement to keep me reading and I never lost interest. Unlike other books, this book did not appear dragged out to me (mostly because it was actually full of GOOD sentences!). The characters were extremely well developed, and the twists and turns in the end were well written and I did not see them coming. As a whole, however, the story was geared towards an older audience. There were a few confronting birth scenes (our main character is a midwife) that I skipped over. It was written to further drive the point, as this is a very deep book, but it was too much for me in those few scenes.Like I’ve said, this book was a very deep book: the storyline and the writing was definitely not a silly childrens’ book. The romance between Gaia and Leon was realistic and not inappropriate, and was not the focus of the story—it was more like a background thing going on (always a plus for me!). As for the characters themselves? While they were wonderfully described and developed, at times they seemed flat and one-dimensional, and did not react enough when things are revealed. Yet, Gaia was an easy character to love.Overall I did enjoy this book very much. A great dystopia with a fun plot, I would recommend this book to ages 13+.

This was a break from my TBR (To Be Reviewed) pile. They say you can't judge a book by it's cover BUT I did when I saw this on a shelf in the library. Something about it spoke to me and since I am a fan of Young adult literature it walked out with me. Gaia Stone, the main character is following in her mothers steps and becoming a midwife. She lives outside The Wall where the Enclave give rations to those who serve willingly. As a midwife she is to mark the first three children she delivers and give them to the enclave as a sacrifice to those royalty who cannot conceive. Once her mother and father become arrested and she hears no word of why, she begins to question her allegiance. I found this topic to be a bit mature for a young adult series but really enjoyed it and couldn't put this book down and devoured the next two in the series.

I really didn't click with this book at all, I found it boring and a real slog to get through.

Really good, very engaging. Hard to force myself to put it down. I'm glad there's a sequel.
