This is a great book about women's suffrage. I did this book on my literacy invitations for a 5th grade class. This book could be read to younger elementary students, but I would not read it to students below 3rd grade. There are many activities students could complete along with the book. They could create a women's suffrage skit, a protest song, or write a persuasive letter. Each of these activities are mentioned in the book, so they would be great for students to do as well! It's so easy to forget there was a time when women weren't allowed to vote, and picture books like this make history personal for young readers. Great historical fiction about marching with Susan B. Anthony for women's suffrage - especially because it ends with women not winning the right the first time out, showing how long the road to rights was. Lengthy author's notes at the end for those who want more information.
I particularly liked the end notes which provide information to the background of the story.
