3 1/2 stars. I really liked it. I wish some things had been explored more, but since it is the first in a series, I'll just have to hope for those tidbits in the next book. But OHHHH I wanted to see Val and Rai get a little more action together. I haven't looked to see if the next book has new MC, or if it continues with these. I hope we haven't seen the last of them in either case. Thank goodness for the Goodreads groups. They have pointed me towards many books, that I may not have found on my own. DRAGONS! That was my motivation for buying this one and it's absolutely my favorite thing about it. I enjoyed this so much more than I expected to--perhaps more than I ought to have. But it's about dragons! Not only does Jory end up married to dragon shifters, but he ends up being adopted by a full-blood dragon pet. So awesome!This had the bits of shifter lore that intrigue me, and that totally work for me when done well. Plus, it also was the most intriguing mix of sci-fi elements and medieval castles and kings and warriors. So fun!There were a few things that really didn't work for me, but on the whole, this story was just so much fun to read! It's definitely going on the guilty pleasures shelf, and I'm sure I'll return to it whenever I need a nice, sweet, fun read.
