"Sleigh Bells in the Snow" is a delightfully romantic novel that takes place at the Snow Crystal Resort and Spa in Vermont. Floundering because of his father's poor management, Jackson O'Neil has returned home from Switzerland to salvage the family business and has hired Kayla Green a marketing whiz to plan a strategy to put it on the map. When she's asked to spend a week at the resort to get to know his family as well as the facility Kayla agrees because she hates Christmas and all the memories it ignites. Isolated in a cabin far from the pre-Christmas revelry in her New York office she believes she can work non-stop without any distraction, little realizing that sparks will fly when she sees Jackson daily. Only by facing the pain of her past and her fears will she be able to take a leap of faith with her heart and accept the love she craves. Sarah Morgan brings to life the Snow Crystal Resort with its rugged ski slopes, frozen lake and snowy forest. In this picturesque and tranquil landscape the reader can almost smell the delicious aroma of hot chocolate, as well as taste the flavours and textures of Élise`s French cuisine. In this atmosphere Jackson O'Neil is struggling against all odds including family members who hate change to make the resort profitable. And Kayla Green a workaholic from New York who knows nothing about close-knit families, togetherness or making memories especially at Christmas must use her killer business instinct to help him. In a plot that echoes with the pain of rejection, fear of commitment and finding happiness there are strong elements of loyalty, unconditional acceptance, hope and love. Verbal banter and humor often break the drama as events unfold and progress.The characters like the plot are well-developed, realistic and unforgettable like Kayla Green who`s polished and controlled, gutsy and efficient in her job. When she meets the O'Neils especially Jackson she feels vulnerable, exposed and scared, wanting to run away before she can be hurt. Jackson O'Neil the CEO of Snowdrift Leisure is lithe and athletic, endowed with an air of power and authority. He's tenacious, strong-willed and self-assured but also warm, committed and loyal to his family. Included among the members of the O'Neil family who add spice and energy to this romance is the energetic and belligerent patriarch Walter; sweet and empathetic Elizabeth; the restless and impulsive Tyler and his daughter, the fearless and stubborn Jess.I thoroughly enjoyed "Sleigh Bells in the Snow" and highly recommend a romance that brings the magic of Christmas to life. Zu Beginn des Buches lernt man zunächst kurz Kayla und ihre Arbeit kennen, bevor das Buch zu Jackson und seiner Familie springt und die Probleme, die sie mit ihrem Resort haben. Kayla soll als PR-Mangerin eine Marketing-Kampagne für Jacksons Hotel in Snow Crystal entwerfen, doch dafür muss sie sich genau dort hin begeben, in einen Ort, den Kayla nie zuvor gehört hat. Doch bald kann Kayla nicht nur Snow Crystal widerstehen ... Kayla war für mich sehr lange ein schwieriger und anstregender Charakter. Sie versteckt sich hinter einer Fassade und ihrer Arbeit. Und sie ist die absolute Weihnachtshasserin. Als geklärt wird, warum sie Weihnachten so distanziert gegenübersteht, konnte ich sie aber ein Stück weit verstehen. Jackson ist eigentlich das komplette Gegenteil und ihn mochte ich von Anfang an. Er ist ein unglaublicher Familienmensch und weiß was er will und lässt sich auch nicht davon abbringen. Er versucht Kayla immer wieder aus der Reserve zu locken. Doch immer, wenn man denkt jetzt hat Jackson es geschafft, Kayla ist endlich aufgetaut, macht sie wieder dicht. Ihr hin und her war leicht anstrengend. Jacksons Familie, mit denen er das Resort führt, waren alle zauberhaft. Sie waren auf ihre Art einfach total liebenswert und süß. Dabei kommen sie immer an genau den richigen Stellen zum Einsatz und wirkten nie fehl am Platz.Der Schreibstil war sehr schön und die Autorin hat Snow Crystal wunderbar dargestellt. Der Zauber von Snow Crystal hat mich eingeholt und ich habe mich tatsächlich ein bisschen in diesen Ort verliebt. Die Geschichte wird vom auktorialen Erzähler erzählt, aber ich glaube der Ich-Erzähler wäre mir lieber gewesen. Einfach weil ich denke, dass ich dann zu Kayla einen besseren Zugang gefunden hätte und noch mehr verstanden hätte, warum sie immer wieder dicht macht.Das Ende des Buches war einfach zauberhaft und richtig. Und man merkt, dass Kayla doch eine Entwicklung durchgemacht hat. Es war einfach das was ich wollte und ich dachte nur: Na endlich!AbschlusswortDie Geschichte ist perfekt für diese Zeit, mit einer schönen Portion Weihnachtsstimmung. Dieser Winter-Wiehnachtszauber ist einfach da. Zudem wird eine herzerwämende Liebesgeschichte mit Kribbelfaktor geboten. Und einen Ort, der eigentlich nicht schöner sein könnte. Ein bisschen Abzug gibt es aber leider für Kayla und ihre anstrengende Art. Trotzdem ist es genau diese Art von Geschichte, die ich mir zu Weihnachten wünsche.
