About book Metropolis Case (2014)

I found this a somewhat difficult book to read due to the dense writing style, with long sentences, interspersed by many qualifiers, and a somewhat ostentatious verbiage, and told in alternating segments dealing with several characters whose connection is Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde". There are several opera singers, in different locales(Pittsburg, New York, Paris)& in different times-late 70's, 2001(during 9/11), 1865- and a music journalist who becomes a lawyer & represents the author with whom he shares a number of characteristics including being gay(though hopefully not a positive HIV status which is controlled with treatment)-whose music tastes evolve from rock to opera. The story kept my interest, though the unlikely story of the more than 100 year old Leo Metropolis is an artificial way to tie the various strands together. For me, at first, hard to get "into", once I did I couldn't put it down. Felt bad when I finished, felt like I lost a friend. Only criticism - I don't speak French and found the French quotes a bit disconcerting, wasn't sure if I was missing anything relevant to the novel. All-in-all I thoroughly enjoyed it and wait anxiously for his next novel. I find I enjoy books when there are a lot of characters, the author has the courtesy to reference them,

Do You like book Metropolis Case (2014)?

Slow start, satisfying middle, slightly melodramatic end. I waffled between 3 and 4 stars.
