About book Midnight's Lover (2012)

I liked it. It was sad that both characters lost loved ones - Danielle: her parents were killed in a car crash at age 12; then, her father's sisters moved her from Florida to Scotland. There she was raised by her Aunt Josephine, who made her realize the fact that she was a Druid with powerful magic; then, her Aunt Josie died. Despite her job, her flatmates, she still felt alone; whereas, Ian, whose twin, Duncan, was murdered by Malcolm, one of Dierdre's henchman. Once Duncan was murdered, Ian had to bear the brunt of the god, Farmire-the god of battle-whom they shared. Ian did not know how to control the god; that is until he rescued Danielle from the Wyrran, Dierdre's killer creatures. From the moment they met, the attraction was instantaneous, especially when Ian had to undress Danielle down to her woman skivvies and hold her to keep her warm. It's the same premise as the previous novels of the series, Dark Warriors. Warriors/Gods instantly attracted and protective over good druids, mie, from the droughs, who are evil - Dierdre and Declan. Ian's god is special and Dierdre wants him; thus, she sends Charlie to infiltrate the Macleod castle from the inside. Declan does the same with a druid, name Kirstin. Danielle's power is finding an object and needs to return that to its rightful owner or else she weakens; she found a key and it was telling her to go Macleod castle. Hence, marks the beginning of their journey to the castle. It did get frustrating when all the power nestled in that castle, the druids did not see the infiltrators. The druids felt something off and yet could not grasp it. No one believed Ian when he voiced his misgivings about Charlie. Also, I felt the love scene in the dungeon was a bit too much. To me there is a better time and place....Wow, through the bars. Is that even possible? Okay, so I liked the novel. It did not bore me but it did not captivate me. Nonetheless, I am still a Donna Grant fan and her Dark Warriors series. I see that Malcolm and Charon get their own novels, which I am excited about. I just need to get my hands on them. This was a DNF for me. I kept reading and thought, "Why? You're not interested and you have 15 more books in your TBR pile." So, I stopped at page 223. There was nothing new or inventive. It's the usual paranormal group of men who have issues and the women who help them. Normally, this tired trope wouldn't stop me from reading, but I just felt nothing between or for Ian and Danielle (or any of the other characters).
