About book Mistero Al Castello (2010)

I'm a fan of Deanna Raybourn's "Lady Julia and Nicholas Brisbane" series, and while the librarian here in Carrollton, Miss., borrowed "The Dead Travel Fast" for me, "Dark Enquiry" is supposedly on its way to me. I read and returned the "vampire" novel and enjoyed it, too! A happy ending for the Count and the authoress? That's something I wondered about as I followed this version of the vampire and the werewolf legends by the inimitable Ms. Raybourn. The title of this novel, sketching the reader through grey Edinburgh, into Transylvania and on into London town, is a bit mystifying, to tell the truth. A teasing and mysterious plotter, is our talented writer, and obviously so is her principal character. What to say?? This was a well written novel. The mystery is good and had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I was not too impressed by the romance aspect of the book, however. I think he was a little too emotionally withdrawn. And with such a dark mental instability, I have to wonder about how happy the couple would actually be. The whole time I kept thinking that it reminded me of a Victoria Holt book. (Which is not necessarily a bad thing.)

I'm a big fan of the Julia Grey series but I absolutely loved this one-off by Ms. Raybourn.
