About book Mustache! (2011)

Mustache! was a really entertaining book to read that kids would go bonkers over. As a kid everyone would draw mustaches on drawings of people and it was the funniest thing around which is why this book would be a success in about any classroom. The king is a very self-absorbed man who doesn't really care about his kingdom until someone starts drawing mustaches on all of his billboards of himself. After a few days pass it is found out that everyone in the kingdom is participating in this and the king throws everyone in jail! Eventually he gets lonely and draws a mustache on his own face, portraying to the reader that he is sort of coming to a decision to accept the humor of the whole situation. The illustrations in this book used excellent colors and animated drawings which I really liked. Also, being published by Disney, you could see the typical "Disney" type animations, for example the king's Royal Advisor reminded me of Merlin in "The Sword and the Stone." Disney features are essentially always great products and this book was proof of that. Grades K-4. A very self-centered king does little for his country other than making sure everyone knows how handsome he is. The kingdom is falling apart, and rioters appear with torches-- shouting at him to DO SOMETHING to help them. So he decides to make the biggest and best sign of all-- a giant banner with a picture of himself. Soon afterwards mustaches start appearing on his images all over town. He orders the offenders to jail... until he finds himself completely alone. Everyone in jail. Very funny!
