About book O Segredo Dos Tudor (2014)

I really wanted to like this better, but I was confused by the politics of the time period, and all the double-crosses and deceptions, and felt like an idiot for not understanding why this person wanted to arrest that person, kill that person, or wield power over that other person. Because of that there were a lot of plot points that didn't hit me as hard as they were supposed to.I thought the writing and the pacing was good, but our hero Brendan was a little full of himself and I didn't buy the insta-romance. love this time period. I read this book from beginning to end. Once it starts it just keeps going. I especially love the Tudor period. This focuses on King Henry VIII children and a nobody that the main character turns out to be.................seriously read the book. There are three in the series so I hope the next one will keep me from neglecting my parental responsibilities just like this one did. Unfortunately the third book: "The Tudor Vendetta" isn't due for release until October 2014 "Favorite Quote: Everyone has a secret. Like the oyster with its grain of sand, we bury it deep within, coating it with opalescent layers, as if that could heal our mortal wound. Some of us devote our entire lives to keeping our secret hidden, safe from those who might pry it from us, hoarding it like the pearl, only to discover that it escapes us when we least expect it, revealed by a flash of fear in our eyes when caught unawares, by a sudden pain, a rage or hatred, or an all-consuming shame. I know all about secrets. Secrets upon secrets, wielded like weapons, like tethers, like bedside endearments. The truth alone can never suffice. Secrets are the coin of our world, the currency upon which we construct our edifice of grandeur and lies. We need our secrets to serve as iron for our shields, brocade for our bodies, and veils for our fears: They delude and comfort, shielding us always from the fact that in the end we, too, must die.pg. 70 Favorite quote: I'd reached that inevitable crossroads that comes in every man's life--the crucial moment when, if we're fortunate enough to recognize it, we can make a choice that will forever alter our fate.

A ripping good tale if you can suspend your disbelief.... Almost historical fiction meets fantasy.

As simple as it sounds... Four stars because of who the hero turns out to be.
