About book Out-Foxed (2012)

This was kind of cute at times, but...but but but....1. The prose is very basic, with waaaay too much telling and not enough showing. No subtlety.2. There are too many instances of Skyler being waaaaaaay TSTL. 3. Waaaaaaay too much waffling by Skyler about Keith. I don't mean just changing his opinion when something new happens, but waffling back and forth within the same scene, often within the same few minutes. Find an opinion and stick with it for at least a few minutes!4. And other complaints that I'm too sleepy to put the energy into writing down right now.I'm rounding this one up to 3, but I don't think it really deserves more than 2.5 stars. It just didn't do anything for me. I think I made a mistake. I remembered some of the first two books but not all of the details, so I re-read those before reading this third installment. Reading them back to back to back like that really drives home the point of what a whiney FLAKE Skyler is. He's constantly going back and forth with his feelings for Keith and after the second book, let alone the third, this gets tiresome. The constant promising to not do any investigating and thus put himself in harm's way, and then doing the exact opposite because, hey, what could possibly happen? I mean, sure, the last time he almost got killed but that certainly can't happen again, right? Bah. And then there's the constant name dropping of brands for what everyone is wearing, or strangely specific names of colors of lipstick. The group naming themselves the Skyler Fuck Club and constantly referring to themselves as such? Ugh. That's just strange. The fetishization of Keith's body hair was comical by the third book. Every time Keith entered a scene I expected "Keith (who has a hairy chest)..." to be on the page. And yet....the three books weren't horrible. I just don't think I should have read them one after the other.

Do You like book Out-Foxed (2012)?

Exceptionally fun murder mystery, with just the right mix of other fun elements. Highly recommended.

I didn't want this series to end. Looking forward to Foxe Fire when it is released.
