I think maybe removing Chet and Bernie from the familiar wild west was a mistake. The terrain here feels less interesting.As for the story, there are too many cops involved, which leads to a lot of situations where I find it hard to believe Bernie would just be allowed to continue on his way. You've got spies and politics and other well-worn tropes and stereotypes that are just tired and don't set this book apart in an otherwise original series.That said, Chet the Jet is still an awesome narrator. If you've read the other books, then go ahead and get this one out of the way; but, if you're new to Chet and Bernie, don't start here. I've read all of the Chet and Bernie mysteries and the newest one out provides another fun read, especially if you like having a dog tell the story. Poor Chet doesn't quite understand all the idioms and puns our language throws out, so if you're new to this series be prepared to acknowledge that a dog does have his flaws and sometimes forgets where he's going and what he's saying in the story. Bernie is Chet's soul mate and smart detective buddy solving all sorts of murders. This one has to do with DC and politicians. I like the early books in this series only because Chet gets a little redundant at times. Give the first one in this group a try. I'm sure you'll have a few laughs.
Do You like book Paw And Order (2014)?
This wasn't quite as entertaining as some of the other Bernie and Chet stories.
