About book Playing For Keeps/Body Check (2012)

I'm giving this book 3.5 stars, although its close. This is a book of two short stories, both involving athletes. I liked both stories, but I didn't love either of them. Now, with that said, I will point out that if the last 1/4 of each story would have been written differently, then I would probably have rated this book with a 4 or a 4 1/2. So what was wrong with the endings? They both felt forced to me. In the last book what happened almost completely turned me off the hero, but I have to add that he did redeem himself somewhat at the very end. Would I read another book from this author? Maybe. If it was a full length novel, I might give it a try just to see if the endings in these were rushed just due to the length of the stories, or if that's the writers style. Again, they weren't a bad read, and for the most part I enjoyed them. I just wished for a little more. Romance author Heather Peters hits it out of the ballpark with her latest double-header release. Ms. Peters expertly combines her love of sports with her talent for writing romance with two dynamic novellas under one cover. "Playing For Keeps" and "Body Check" are book one in her anthology "Rules of the Game" series."Playing for Keeps" and "Body Check" are both romantic tales of hunky sport superstars and their quest for love. In "Playing for Keeps," baseball pitcher Nick Dante is desperate to rekindle a relationship with his ex-wife, unaware she carries a secret that threatens any future they may have. The second story, "Body Check," hunky hockey goalie, Quinn is determined to win the bosses daughter despite her previous relationship with an abusive hockey player. Both tales are captivating and thoroughly enchanting. Ms Peters draws you right in to her stories, not only with her knowledge of sports but with characters that are three-dimensional and realistic. These stories are sensual but not over explicit with the emphasis on romance. You won't be disappointed with either of these stories, and I'm sure future stories will be just as wonderful. You can purchase Ms. Peter's book through Amazon.
