About book Ponte De Sonhos (2013)

Honestly, I can't believe it took me so long to read this. I just kind of missed it in the scheme of things, even though Anne Bishop is my favourite author.I adore this trilogy (although nowhere near to the extent that i enjoy The Black Jewels Books).Needless to say, this book didn't quite seem to have the action that 'Sebastian' & 'Belladonna' both had, and yet it fits, as the perfect way to tell Lee's story. This book is written in the way that only Anne Bishop can deliver. It is descriptive, and yet manages to flow continuosly.I was especially intrigued by the idea of the Tryad people, and their homeland of Tryadnea. If there was ever a seperate story written about their history, I would definitely read it! Of the Ephemera series for me this one was the best. The Eater of the World has been contained at a great price by Glorianna Belladonna. Her brother Lee, who is a Bridge (Males who can make and break “bridges” to connect different landscapes together) is having a hard time accepting the price Glorianna paid but when he sees Wizards trying to break into Glorianna’s landscapes he sacrifices himself and ends up in a landscape he has never heard of before. Where they don’t know about Landscapers and Bridges and the evil Wizards. He has to figure out how to save the city of Vision and make his way back home…if he can. For me the best part about this book was the introductions of the Tryad race. A race where there are three siblings (all male or all female) in one body but each sibling can “come into view” and when they do the body’s features, musculature etc. change as well. Sort of confusing but a very cool concept. The three can all talk to each other regardless of who is “in view” but can choose to recede and give whoever is “in view” some privacy. If one gets hurt in a small way the other two are ok, but the bigger the hurt the more the other two experience it. One or more can die and the others live but to be a single aspect or to love a single aspect is a big taboo in their culture. Lee meets and falls in love with one aspect of a Tryad and that is where the tyrad Sohleh Zeela a Zahar’s problems arise, that and the fact that their landscape is drifting and in major peril. Going to reiterate, this book was an A compared to the other two in the series. If you’ve never read Anne Bishop, don’t read these books. Start with Daughter of the Blood, book one of the Black Jewel series. Much much better story and character development. Since I’m already a fan, I will continue to read her books set in different realms but none of them have that same draw as the original 4 Black Jewels. The Invisible Ring, Daughter of the Blood, Heir to Shadows and Queen of the Darkness.
