About book Red Dirt Heart 3 (2000)

SPOILER ALERTI am not really into M/M romance books. Even if I am gay, I still find it boring to read books about LGBT since the majority that exists are in a form of socio-political issues that surrounds the LGBT community. Also, I have issues in regards to gay books that instill the idea that every gay man desires to unleash their "female" persona which, honestly, as a gay man, I can't sympathize with. I am male, I like male stuff, I do male stuff. Yes, I am a bit effeminate but I don't dream to become a woman or female. I'm just a guy who likes guys as well.Something that this series reflects. I love how the way the author gave us a full view of what's going on in a gay relationship. This is Nicholas Sparks for gays. Simply as that. No non-sense, no deep-shit. I enjoyed every bit of the story. But of course, I do have issues which explains the 4 stars:-> Not well edited. Too many typos that kinda distracts me sometimes. Jumbled Words like "Brought again him" ruins the moment for me.-> This book as a whole, is totally predictable (Except the last part) the conflict and the possible scenarios can be predicted as you read the book. I don't know how to say it but, as I read the book, I can actually guess what the "surprises" that should have been. The author created suspense climax which an intelligent reader can already foresee, which ruins the moment too. (Trudy being pregnant, Ma getting cancer [yes, even the specific illness is predictable]) and other trivial stuff is predictable.-> The story is too safe. This book portrays a very perfect relationship even if the author introduced trials and conflicts. I guess my take on this is because gay romance have very few "fairy tale" endings and I guess this can already be counted as one. I just expected this to be more emotionally rich in terms of conflict.-> I am sometimes confused with the characters. At first, I thought they are so manly. I imagine them so manly, but there are moments that are too feminine... I dunno. Maybe because the author is a woman so there's a bit of confusion here and there, but yes, there are moments where I find the characters too girlish. I don't have problems with it originally, but character establishment is important. If you portray a character to be manly, be consistent. Don't write characteristics that strays away on what is established. It's confusing.PRAISES:-> I love how the author created a very gripping storyline. The characters are loveable, the setting, to my surprise, IS VERY LOVABLE (I can't believe that I became so interested in Outback, Australia) and everything else. You can't help but be engrossed with the everything in this book.-> I love how the author gave us a full view of the character's relationship, even to the point of what's happening in their bedroom (wink) and I guess this is how novels should be. To get immersed into a character, you should experience them totally. And I love how the author shared that to us. Every single thing.-> Details. This book gave us really good details. The story is simple, yet extraordinarily written. Usually, readers or critics can easily criticize the overly detailed sentences (ex. even what's happening to the kitchen, Travis put the bottle to the sink, etc.) which normally, I don't think it's necessary to be such detailed, but with this story, I give an exception. It is the outback life, details are needed to appreciate the simplicity, yet the harshness of Outback life) and I love every details this book gave me since I was able to create a clear picture of every scenes. Emotionally, and physically.-> The author has a long way to go but she already made it so far. She's a natural talent. A little bit more of polishing and she could be the first major, bestselling author of M/M romance. This is SUCH a good series, Charlie and Travis are so fun to read. Travis is always so patient with Charlie, and this book he's there so much for Charlie. Travis has a new stray called Nugget, who LOVES Charlie and will onmly take food from him. Stubborn little wombat. When Ma gets news that shes very seriously sick, it almost is more than Charlie can take. But Travis is there, and he's not leaving no matter what. Even when Charlie's past shows up at the station. This is a really good read, if you havent read this series you need to. Its excellent.
