I am a little more than halfway done with this book and so far I think the best one in the series was hands down the first one. In the second book Nikki is trying to survive high school, friends, family, and learn how to control her inner half-demon. At the start of school word is going around there is a new student, but for Nikki the student is not so new. He is Fairy King, Rhys, who is attending human school to " learn more about Nikki". At first Nikki is upset and cannot believe that he thinks she is a danger to his people, but as time passes she enjoys having Rhys around because he is the only one she can discuss demon/ fairy things with. But when a prophecy saying Nikki will destroy the human and demon worlds, everyone starts to question if Nikki is actually capable of that or if there could possibly be another half demon out there like Nikki. Since I am more than halfway done I am going to attempt to finish the book. But I am hoping that it will get better. I chose this book because I wanted to continue reading the series. This book is about Nikki Donovan having to deal with the faery king being at her school to investigate her to see if she will fulfill the prophecy. My favorite quote is "My best friend was a demon slayer who'd just quit her training sessions despite her very persistent instructor. My biology partner was the king of the faery realm whom I prophesied to marry someday. My sort-of boyfriend was a Shadow prince-servant with the potential to fully drain a demon's life energy as easily as if he were drinking a milkshake." is my favorite quote because I find it very interesting with detail. I like the author's writing style because it makes me want to read more. The point of view is in first person. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes demons.
