I have forced myself to keep plugging along in this series because Brian K. Vaughan's epic "Y: The Last Man" proved to be so amazing, but you can only hang on for so long. This series is absolutely off the rails. It is directionless. I see it weighing in at a 4.58 or 4.57 by it's significant fanbase, and I can't figure it out. The creativity is off the charts, the writing is solid (and always has been with Vaughan...no knocking that) and the art is awesome, sure...but a story about love and sacrifice should have some heart to it. I just abhor this story line. The action is all out of place. Sex is thrown in somewhat gratuitously, and while I don't mind that, gratuitous sex is best when it's purposeful. And "The Will"...I'm not sure there is a better character with a worse plot trajectory. I'm underwhelmed. And that's sad, because in the world of graphic novels, it's hard to top Vaughan's previous work. I'm not giving up (when it only takes you an hour to chop through and the work is pretty, you pick it up anyway), but I sure would like to see this story become the 'saga' it was meant to be instead of wallowing in petty instances of violence with long gaps of questionable decisions by the characters and worthless red herrings. Depois de descobrir quem era o Brian Vaughan e que esteve presente na Comic-Con (onde também estive e vendi livros dele), fiquei curioso para ler algo seu, à parte da adaptação de Under The Dome que já tinha visto na televisão. Assim sendo, e como vendia este livro na banca da Kingpin, decidi que era por este que ia começar. E que aventura está a ser. Já li os outros volumes para trás e vou ler ainda o volume 4 mas acrescento apenas um em progresso para não contar demasiados livros para o Reading Challenge. Não li muitos comics. A bem dizer, este é o primeiro que estou a ler seguido. E estou a amar. Os desenhos, as personagens, o mundo criado por Vaughan e belíssimamente ilustrado por Staples fazem uma combinação incrivel que marca o leitor. A forma de contar a história, com intervenções da criança que Marko e Alana seguram ao peito, é também muito boa e refrescante. Como já disse a um amigo, Saga tem doses perfeitas e iguais de 3 coisas - ação, comédia e lamechices. É por isso que é tão bom. Porque conjuga tão bem e não falha em nenhuma destas coisas. 5/5 e aguardo ansiosamente por ler o quarto e último volume.
