A brilliant short read full of optimism.Bree escapes from an abusive relationship. Moving house and starting a new job afford her the opportunity to build a new life. Bree meets Josh, her new neighbour, whilst moving into the house. An instant attraction is obvious from the start, Josh is everything her ex isn't. Will Bree be able to trust Josh and find happiness or will her past come back to haunt her.The abuse that Bree suffers is horrific but the way that she refuses to give up on life is inspiring. Josh and Eric are great characters with their own issues. This book was given to me as part of a Goodreads Giveaway. Thank you to Ella Col for the autographed copy. :)First impression was that wow this novel was really short. In fact it seemed more like a really long short story. That impression might have been put in my head as well probably because the whole story progressed so quickly. The love story between Josh and Bree is cute and sweet I can't lie, but I feel like I can't get invested in their relationship. Again must be because it's all condensed into about 75 pages. The subject of domestic abuse is brought out, but not as much as I would like in the end. One more thing that brought it down, at least for me, was the whole indie band scene. I'm not into indie music and some of the songs that were "played" (which aren't indie, but alt rock?) I'm not too familiar with. I do thank the author for the playlist at the end of the book so I can keep up with what's going on.All in all I give this book three stars out of five. Good attempt at a quick alternative love story but could have been a lot better.
