I can never go past a good regency romance and this one did not disappoint. The hero and heroine were beautifully written and the moment when they see each other for the first time, the reader knowing who they are to each other when they themselves are still in the dark is deliciously entertaining. The story has great pacing and the attraction between the two, despite their family's history of enmity is a constant source of delight. Just when we expect to see a resolution, however, their behaviour suddenly seems to derail into the exact opposite of the intelligent, honest people we've come to love and that pulled me out of the story for a bit which is what made this a four star rather than a five star review. Overall however a great read and I will be continuing the series with much anticipation. Again, I think I just might have hit a point in my life where historical romance doesn't work for me anymore... ...But I don't want to believe it! I believe that they can be well-written and original! I just didn't see that from this novel. The characters have a quirky sense of humour and a certain charm about them, but I'm just so bored of this storyline (even though the author tried to inject some Capulet/Montague tension - in a funny way) that I gave up.
