About book Sessiz Kız (2011)

I love the show Rizzoli and Isles, so I thought I'd give the reason behind the show a chance. Now I get why they made a series based on these books. The characters are the same but with some differences.Anyway, this book started with a twist, and literally until the next to last page, I was surprised. I did see one thing right away, but the second I did guess, was well towards the end of the book. Very nicely written. Good story that takes you through Boston's Chinatown. Nice legends thrown in there. Familiar characters. Excellent read So, I finished this a few days ago but I wanted to give it time to soak in before I commented it on it. All in all, I liked this book. In fact, this has quickly become a favorite author of mine, and to have that happen with one book, especially me, is kind of shocking. I usually try to give it two books, or at least read a bit more of an author's work before I do that. But with this, Gerritsen has made me fall even further in love with her characters more than the TV series did. I guess the biggest thing to say is that it isn't like the tv show. And what I mean by that is that the characters are different, in terms of descriptions, and even the focus/POV is different (i.e., instead of focusing on Rizzoli and Isles, it focuses more on Jane Rizzoli).Other than that, I can't really think of anything else that bothered me about it. I found the story interesting, and I even found myself on the edge of my seat once I got toward the end of novel and The Big Reveal was about to happen. All in all, it was good and I liked it.

Listened on a Playaway. Interesting story with some surprises, though overall rather formulaic

Had me hooked ankle through. The Chinese culture touches were very well written.
