About book Shadow Touch (2011)

I accidently read this short story before reading any of the larger series, on a good note it ruins none of the series for you it just made me really interested in the side characters that help the main characters figure out what going on. I ended up buying the three books of the series as soon as I was done with this short story and finished them all in two days. I highly recommend you try this series it.unique story line just gets more intriguing the further you dive into this world. Plus she has another short coming out in a few months that has these same characters in it so it looks like we will get some closure on their story soon. I picked this book up because I was intrigued by the story's premise; the idea that someone's shadow, the "dark half" of their personality, could take a physical form separate from, but attached to that person. This is exactly the situation Ellie finds herself in and is the reason she approaches Dr. Cam at the Seque Institute for help. The premise is interesting and the book is well written and fast-paced, but I was disappointed in Shadow Touch because everything seems to easy. Ellie's shadow quickly falls in "lust" with Cam, Cam falls in love with Ellie, and Ellie falls in love with Cam in only a matter of hours and days. All three characters make life changing decisions based on their new found feelings. I realize that this is a novella, but there was not nearly enough explanation of the magic forces involved in the story, although I am interested in reading more about the fae and the shadowland only hinted at in Shadow Touch. This is one of those cases where less isn't necessarily more. This story needed more back-story and more character development. I would give it three and a half stars if that were an option, instead of just three.
