About book Shannon The Ocean Fairy (2008)

Shannon and the girls are off on another fairy adventure! Shannon`s three pearls are missing, the Dawn Pear, Twilight Pearl, and the Moon Pearl. The goblins have taken them into the Human World, and outside of the Fairy World. The Dawn Pearl; This pearl controls dawn, and the moving of the water. When Shannon realizes the tide`s coming in too far, she sends out the girls with her to go underwater. They find it, and bring it back to Fairyland. Its now safely in the Fairy World, out of the Human World. The Twilight Pearl; Now, before we know it, it`s all about the tides being mixed up, and ferry ships not able to dock properly. Now a ship that famous is docking in Leamouth, because it isn`t working, the controls and navigators. Shannon, Kirsty, and Rachel are up on the job, turning the lighthouse back on. The Twilight Pearl is found, and everything is back to normal! The Moon Pearl; This is the worst! Now colors of the sea are changing, AND day and night are mixed up! The Moon Pearl controls this, and the girls must find it. They do, and now all of the seas, days, tides, and nights are fixed! Disclaimer: I'm rating this based on my daughters' feelings about the book, not my own. I read this with them, one of the many Rainbow Fairy Magic books we've read since they discovered them earlier this year. They absolutely ADORE these books and while I find them redundant, tedious and boring, I will say that they are light-hearted and fun for my daughters, they are non-scary, they introduce elements of the fantasy genre, they don't involve horrible things happening to the protagonists like the parents being killed or kidnappings and such and therefore, they are absolutely wonderful books for girls (and boys, if they happen to like fairies) the age of my daughters (who are 5 and 7). They are also fairly short (well, this one is a little longer) and would therefore be great books for kids who are newly reading chapter books, as they would be able to be successful in reading the books and get the positive feeling of having read a book by themselves. That being said, I am looking forward to the day my daughters can read these themselves, although I am sure I will miss being asked to read to them.
