About book Smash Into You (2000)

after the Significance series, i haven't read anything by Shelly Crane until this book, and i can't believe i waited so long!!! Just loved it! it had everything i like in a book, lots of action, a strong and handsome male character and eternal love, just perfect! and i like that is a stand alone because even when i really love series i sometimes need an end in the same book, so i gave it 5 stars and i'm definitely reading more books of this author. :D As a reader, I tend to gravitate toward books that have characters a little older than YA. So, when I began reading Smash Into You, I was a little reserved with my expectations. But let me tell you, that I am so happy I took a chance with this one. Smash Into You will do exactly that. It smashed into me and took me for a ride. The characters, though considered YA, are more mature due to the events in their lives that have led them to where they are when we meet them. The story is told in first person POV, and it is from the hero's perspective, which had me intrigued from day one. This is outside the norm and I loved that. Jude is so jaded (I agree with Marley's opinion on this) and we get to see how he finally finds light in the darkness that he has been running in all of his life. Marley is a breath of fresh air who seems to have a "glass is half full" kind of perception of things. Together, these people are a great compliment to each other and together they discover things they didn't know they were looking for. Themselves included. When reading, I found myself engrossed in the present and daily happenings of the storyline and what the characters were doing. I almost forgot the drama and fears they were running from or pursuing. It was refreshing to find a story that made me focus on what immediately was going on and not the "where is this going" parts of a book since this tends to happen to me a lot.Ms. Crane creates a believable story that had me thinking Jude and Marley could walk through the door at any moment. There was a perfect amount of drama, anxiety, frustration, sexual tension, and most of all, hope. I loved Smash Into You and I would highly recommend it to anyone and I look forward to working my way through other novels by Ms. Crane.
