I thought the book was okay, maybe a bit under developed in every way. The BDSM, more specifically the D/s relationship seemed unbalanced; most of the time it read like Derek just took what he wanted from Blue. Maybe this was because of the way it was written – the majority of the story is told from Derek’s POV, especially the sex scenes – but it didn’t feel comfortable to me.I’m kind of intrigued to see how Derek and Blue’s story continues, yet I’m unsure if I care enough to read the next book. The characters in SOME KIND OF STRANGER are wonderfully developed, with Blue being probably one of the most fleshed out characters of most M/M books I've read. Blue is a young son of a DA and is struggling to understand his place and cope with his traumatic past after experiencing hardships due to his sexuality. Blue was a wonderfully tormented soul (as horrible as that sounds) with all the right dualities of character. Derek, the dominant of the story is seductively dark, just as we'd expect him to be. Derek has a sweet-streak running through him and it really helped Strauss toy with the nuances of the BDSM relationship between Blue and Derek to take it beyond the usual yaoi and into something much deeper and complicated. This is a difficult feat and Strauss achieves it believably and beautifully. Highly recommend this book!!! You'll love the characters if you enjoy M/M with some depth and thought behind it.
