About book Sookie Stackhouse, Books 1-8 (2009)

Okay, I love this series, and that was totally unexpected for me. I am not usually into romance supernatural horror, so I did not expect this series to be as completely engrossing and captivating as it is. Not only myself, but even my hubby voraciously read through the Sookie series and became very endeared to the characters as well. The comedy, horror, mystery, and romance is perfectly blended together in the stories, rendering it a fascinating horror soap opera. The characters are well rounded and likable, the plots are often page turners. Its just a fun read, nothing too deep, but oh so enjoyable! It far exceeds Twilight in my opinion, since this series centers around grown ups behaving in more grown up ways which as an adult I can relate to much more than a prudish pubescent vampire love story. Whether you dig romance or lighter horror you should totally give this series a try, its like pringles- once you pop you won't be able to stop and you will end up like me eagerly awaiting and gobbling up each new book as it comes out :) In my opinion this box set contains the best books from this series. As it goes on it seems to be going downhill a bit, and some of the plot elements are becoming too unrealistic for me to be able to enjoy without questioning. But books 1-8 are fab, so give them a try!!! I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I also liked it because having watched the first three episodes of the HBO series based on this book, True Blood, I started off where I stopped show wise. Since I knew the characters already, it made reading the book even better and I was so excited about what happened next. The TV series is a little different than the books in that there were some different vamps I had never heard of (from Fangtasia and Crystal) was introduced in this book and the TV episode doesn't match up. Anyway... great book and can't wait to go read the next one. For the TV viewers (again the book was awesome, but there is no mention of fairies) which again leads me to believe that the books are a little different and they talk about Eric wanting to kill his maker- which if you have seen the TV show, you know can't happen as Eric's maker on the show has already turned good and died. So.. the next book should be interesting reading. About this last book, oh so juicey and not to be missed. Also I loved the fighting seen at the end and it is also about time Jason's character changed a bit. Not fair he has always been left out and can't wait to read what happens to him next. Sookie and Eric also consumate their relationship (due to an accident)and um steamy might just be an understatement in describing those encoutners- there is probably a better word. More supes are also involved in this book, but my fave part of the book is that Eric is not himself and well, he is naked alot!

I really enjoyed these books, but I found at times they were sort of hard to follow.
