I loved this book and also wanted to shake some sense into Jacqs through most of the book! Jacqs is a 28-year-old woman who has been on-again, off-again with Bond. He says he loves Jacqs, but also regularly sleeps with other women. He tells Jacqs that it doesn't take away from what he feels for her. Right! He's got some secrets that he won't tell Jacqs, and she figures there is something in his past causing him to be the way he is (both his inability to commit and the fact that he doesn't drive.) Red is Bond's best friend and he and Jacqs are adversaries - they put up with each other because they each love Bond. Red is sort of the center of their group of friends, having weekly parties at his house. As the story begins, Jacqs has stayed away from Bond's bed for the past six months - she's trying to get over him. He calls her up at 3am begging her to bring a bottle of wine over. She gives in, and then gives in again when Bond talks her into bed. First thing in the morning he wakes her up and tells her she has to leave because he has a date!!!! Jacqs is furious with Bond and with herself for thinking AGAIN he might have changed. But this time something else happens - Red lets her know he's also angry at Bond, she deserves better, and he has had feelings for her for years that he has hidden (by being mean to her) so as not to break the bro-code. As Jacqs and Red begin a relationship, turmoil erupts in their group, particularly with Bond. I loved the characters, despite (again) wanting to shake some sense into Jacqs. As much as Bond seems arrogant and shallow, there is something more that makes you realize he is lost - despite the clothes, Octopussy poster and many other things James Bond he embraces. I love Red (reminds me of Chris Pratt)! And other characters, Jacqs' BFF Lainie, Jacqs' sister Samantha and Bond's friend Stay are all memorable as well. There were a few things I found a bit unbelievable - Bond has a habit of giving people nicknames. Even after years of hanging out, Jacqs only knew Red as Red - she never knew his real name or much else about him. Even though they were frenemies, you'd think there would have been some conversations somewhere along the way about their lives? Regardless, I loved the book and am looking forward to reading Lainie's story in the next installment. Jacqs’ love life has never been simple. Her waxing and waning relationship with playboy extraordinaire Bond has definitely had its ups and downs. Though they both love each other, Bond can’t seem to commit just to Jacqs and keeps falling into bed with any attractive woman he has the pleasure of meeting. After a particularly long split, Jacqs goes against her better judgment and spends the night with him. What she didn’t know was that night would begin an even tougher relationship journey than before. Bond’s best friend, Red, has always seemed to hate Jacqs. After that fateful night, Red admits to her that he doesn’t hate her, but has secretly been in love with her for many years. He couldn’t stand by and watch yet another cycle of love and loss between herself and Bond. Red knows that having a relationship with Jacqs will hurt his friendship with bond, but he wants Jacqs. He’s willing to do what it takes to keep both Jacqs and Bonds in his life and happy. But will Bond be able to handle the thought of “his woman” with another man.?Stuck In Between wields such a sexy yet beautiful romantic story. Don’t get me wrong, the love scenes in this book would even make Mr. Grey say “OMFG” a few times. My dear husband even had a shocked look on his face when I read to him a few lines from the steamy scenes. One of the things I love the most when it comes to the themes of this book is that love is complicated. Even when you know that person is the one for you, if their heart isn’t fully free to love you wholly in return that compromises can be made to keep what you want and make the other happy at the same time. Jacqs is stuck in a never ending cycle with Bond, all the while unbeknownst to her, torturing Red in the process. What she feels for Red is like no other feeling she’s ever had, even with bond, but she can’t shake her love for Bond that easy. Jacqs is one of the things keeping Bond grounded and Red knows he can’t take away the anchor keeping Bond from darkness. I think for me at least I loved the epic love story. Yes, the crazy, intense love scenes were amazing in their own right, but it’s that epic underlying romance that kept me reading, which was must the case for the Fifty Shades of Grey series as well. To me, the love scenes were the added bonus to the romance tale. I also love the open-ended ending. I have a feeling that we’ll continue to see Jacqs relationship continue to change throughout the next books in the series. I cannot wait to dive into Lainie’s story next!
