***My Rating: 3.5 stars***This is the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Like many books, there were high points, and low points for me. But I still really liked this story and will get into more details about what I liked later in my review. Kate Jackson has yet to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She wanders through life, waiting for something to change and hoping to forget the painful memories in the past, when she meets him: Derrick Kane. Derrick is everything in a man Kate always wanted. He's smart, funny, successful, and he treats her like she's precious. She thinks her life is finally perfect, until the serial killer, The Photographer, destroys everything and flips her world upside down. Within one day, twenty-four hours, she will lose everything she held dear, all because of him and a picture he took. Now Kate is just trying to move on. Trying to decide if she wants to do what she's always done, hide, or if she's finally brave enough to stand up to the injustices she been handed in life and fight back. How far would you go to gain the justice you deserve? Especially when you feel as if the past is repeating itself? Pros: 1) I liked the main character, Kate, and think she's a relatable character. 2) I loved the secondary characters, like Kate's sister, Annie, for example. 3) The author talked about a subject matter that many authors are afraid to write about, so I really respect that. 4) The over-all story flowed well and made sense. Cons: 1) Repetition. The author uses a lot of the same words and adjectives in the book, sometimes multiple times on the same page. I'm not usually distracted by grammar when I read a book, but this distracted me a lot. Still, the story was interesting so I tried to ignore it. 2) Sometimes I didn't feel the chemistry or love between the characters. Many times Derrick and Kate were together, their relationship felt a bit forced. 3) I hated that Kate was a strong, independent woman in the beginning, and then let Derrick run the show and always tried to appease him! Also hated that when things got tough, Derrick went running. Like I said in the beginning of my review, the book had some amazing points and then some not so amazing points. I'm still excited to read what happens next, but I wanted to be completely honest in this review about how I felt. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying/reading the book because it's actually a wonderful book and I did enjoy reading it. I would recommend this book to others because I think the story-line is interesting and unique in many ways. I recommend this book to everyone! It's a good book. My favorite quotes: "If you work in the exact opposite direction, then how is that perfect? You're going seriously out of your way.""Because now I can talk to you the whole way there, and think about you the whole way back.""He had already made the mistake of abandoning her once before, he was not going to do that again." ~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~This book had me trapped in its grasp and it never let me go. Not even at the end of the book. It just held me harder. Sarah writes with a fiery passion that I have never read before. This book is mind blowing. The lengths that a person would take to get to someone. I couldn't put this book down at all. It had me sucked in. You will be disappointed if you do not read this book.
