About book The Barman And The SEAL (2013)

This story revolves around Travis the first to enter Daniel's center for returning vets, and Avery, the new owner of The Alibi bar. Travis suffers from terrible nightmares and the mental paralysis that comes with PTSD. Avery is starting a new life in Ellery, when Travis drops into his life. His gentleness with Travis leads to a relationship Travis thought he would never have. PTSD is debilitating and Ms. Scott shows this well. This is a gentle, sweet story about a very broken man, that finds love can heal many things. Again, R.J.Scott has written a very old-fashion romance, one that lends itself to a quiet evening and a glass of wine. These stories are not toss a ways. The characters are rich and warm. It's time well spent. I give it a bar room full of stars. In this sixth book in the Ellery Mountain Series, we get to see one of my favorites, Daniel, and his dream of the Ellery Mountain Veterans Center, come to fruition. This is a nice back-story which has been carried through most of the books with all of the people involved. We meet the first few referrals to the center. Travis was a Navy SEAL who went on four tours of duty. A mission went bad. he was captured, tortured, and traumatized. He believed his whole team was dead, and he was the only survivor. The enemy held him captive for three weeks; Travis is left physically and emotionally scarred. We also learn more about the sweet barman we have seen in previous stories, who has been crushing on Dr. Liam. Avery gets his own story and it is a good one! He meets a man from a wealthy family that does not accept his life style; his politician father has written him off. He is still in contact with his brother, and his brother and new sister in law come to stay with him. Unfortunately, their father is not happy about that situation and comes to town to drag the boy home. In addition, Finn is busy investigating hate crimes happening in his town. This is one busy story. Lucky these are short novellas, because I could not put them down.Sparks fly when Avery and Travis meet, but there are some serious issues going on with Travis and Avery and the town the whole community loves. So much is happening with these fun characters, it is hard to tell which part was the most compelling. This story might be my new favorite of the Ellery Mountain series. As Avery and Travis slowly get to know each other and help each other through some difficult situations, they fall in love.I would highly recommend this series to anyone. I will be checking out what else this writer has out there.
