About book The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook: A Master Baker's 300 Favorite Recipes For Perfect-Every-Time Bread-From Every Kind Of Machine (2000)

I think I've made close to 1/2 the recipes in this book. We have many favorites! It has pretty good info on getting to know your machine and trouble shooting. The only thing that didn't match up with my bread machine manual was that according to a chart in this book my brand of machine should have the dry ingredients go in first, but my manual says wet ingredients first - not a biggie, I just go along with my manual for the correct order. There is a small gluten-free section, but for GF I'd recommend 125 Best Gluten-Free Bread Machine Recipes by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt. The book is divided into sections 1-Daily Breads (white and egg breads), 2-Earth's Bounty (whole wheat, whole-grain, and specialty flours), 3-Traditional Loaves (country breads and sourdoughs), 4- All kinds of Flavors (Breads made with produce of the garden,, orchard, and creamery), 5-Circle, Squares, and Crescents (Pizzas and other flatbreads), 6-Sweet Loaves (chocolate, fruit, and other sweet loaves), 7-Express Lane Bread (no-yeast quick breads), and 8-Jams, Preserves, and Chutneys. The only areas I haven't really explored are the sweet breads, quick breads, and jams. Also, haven't done any sourdough, but I have done several other starter breads (biga, pate fermentee, sponge, and poolish). This book has just been a lot of fun! Very few loaves haven't been devoured by my family. Those that haven't were usually too fruity, hence, my reluctance to try the sweet loaves and quick breads sections. For a while I was trying to make every loaf in the book, which I still plug away at, but have taken our family's tastes and allergies into consideration now.

Bread baking books are my favorite cookbooks of all. I love baking bread and am always looking for good bread recipes and books. I stumbled across this book at Bookman's. I don't buy a whole lot of books there anymore as there prices have become ridiculous for used books but I am glad I bought this one. If I was allowed only one bread book this would be it. Even though I prefer to bake my bread in the oven over the bread machine this bread cookbook is the best one I have ever seen as it is full of so much helpful information. I have been baking bread for about ten years but I learned a lot from this book. Not only is it full of information on all things related to baking bread but there are so many interesting and different bread recipes. I can't wait to make them all! I also now understand my bread machine so much better and have found new ways to use it. This book may help me to love the machine for more than just mixing dough after all. This would be a great book for anyone who likes to bake bread. The author has a few more books on bread baking the conventional way which I plan to buy in the future.

Do You like book The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook: A Master Baker's 300 Favorite Recipes For Perfect-Every-Time Bread-From Every Kind Of Machine (2000)?

This is the BEST bread machine cookbook that I have tried. I wish I had this book when I was first starting out with my bread machine. I struggled with it so much and Hensperger's book would have been an invaluable resource in my kitchen. She takes all the problems and guess work out of bread making - even living in altitude. I really haven't had to tweak her recipes for the altitude either but that she gives tips on how to troubleshoot for it - would have been incredible when I was first starting out with my bread machine. The book has a great variety if recipes and variations, detailed instructions and interesting information. This is the most comprehensive book for bread machine baking I have seen. This book will give any new bread machine user confidence to succeed. And any seasoned bread maker a variety of recipes to find yourself turning to the book over and over again.

I have a bread machine that I've used to make the basic recipes included in the user's manual, but I was getting bored with those and wanted to branch out. This book contains a vast selection of recipes, including multiple variations on basic white bread, wheat breads, country artisan-style breads, sweet breads and quick breads. It also includes a chapter on jams. Most of the recipes call for ingredients that you likely already have in your pantry; in fact, the only item I needed to purchase was vital wheat gluten, but I made a recipe without it, and it turned out just fine. The author scatters tips about breadmaking (the differences between wheats, what vital gluten is, etc.) throughout the book along with various ideas for using leftover bread. So far, I've made the Maple Buttermilk and Cardamon Cranberry Raisin recipes, and both were delicious. If you're looking to make more use of your bread machine, I'd definitely recommend this book.

The phrase "bread lover" in the title should have given me a clue as to what I would find between the covers of this book. This is not necessarily the book you give to someone who just bought their first bread machine. Not that you won't learn a lot about using a bread machine from this book; it is chock-full of knowledge. Unfortunately, it is that abundance of information that makes this book overwhelming for the beginner. There are recipes for all kinds of holiday breads, ethnic breads, sourdough breads, and egg breads. There are recipes for pizzas, flatbreads, croissants, and cinnamon rolls. There are even suggestions for ways to use leftover bits of bread.I originally planned to give this book only two stars because I wanted something more simple. If the title of a recipe has more than three words, it is too fancy for me! I would never consider making anything beyond the Daily Breads chapter. It is only one-fifth of the book, but it could keep me busy for weeks with its recipes for staples like hot dog buns, sandwich bread, and pasta. Now I've given it some more thought, I'm giving this book three stars. It is the equivalent of that jacket your grandma bought you that was slightly too big. You may not love it now, but you will grow into it.
