About book The Bride Says Maybe (2014)

This sequel to the Bride says No is much better than the first. Again it revolves around Tara Davidson who starts out as an immature spoilt beauty. Breccan Campbell is a large hairy man who like many others is smitten with her the first time he sees her. He is smart enough to buy up her Fathers's vowels and uses tells him he will forgive his debt in exchange for his daughter's hand in marriage.I enjoyed the slow push pull between the H/h as they become better acquainted with each other and Tara's worry about her painful first time seeing her husband is such a large man. He In turn is the sweetest man to slowly coax her to relaxing by telling her bedtime stories that his late mother told him as a wee lad.My only small dismay is that there was no news of Aileen and her husband in this story at all and Tara's stupid father is still around. Lady Tara Davidson seemed to rule society and had her pick of men. However, she would only marry for love. Tara had no idea that her father was wheeling and dealing behind the scenes with the “Beast of Aberfeldy” for her hand in marriage. Left with no alternative after her most recent escapade in town, Tara agrees to Breccan Campbell’s offer, but she has no intention of giving her heart with her hand!Breccan Campbell aka Beast of Aberfeldy, has desired Tara since he first saw her. He must possess her and has gambled a LOT to get his hands on her. Yet, Breccan never figured his wager would cost more than he planned on giving, nor that there was more to Tara than the surface veneer. However, Breccan soon comes to see that he wants it all, but how does he convince Lady Tara that she can have it, too?The Bride Says Maybe is like chicken soup for the disenchanted! Breccan was the perfect hero of yesterday matched with the feisty heroine, Tara Davidson. Their story was comforting to read in The Bride Says Maybe. Breccan did come across as a bit of a “beast” in The Bride Says Maybe while Tara took on a little of the mantle of beauty. The secondary characters helped to move the story along in The Bride Says Maybe, but there was truly no real angst in this tale. The Bride Says Maybe seemed to want to delve a bit more into their initial impressions of one another and how they changed as they got to know each other over the course of The Bride Says Maybe. However, it was more of a light touch in that respect as well. Overall, The Bride Says Maybe was reminiscent of the older romance novels, without all the action that I’ve come to appreciate. This book was reviewed by Vanessa for Joyfully Reviewed (JR), and was provided by the publisher/author at no cost to JR for the purpose of being reviewed.

This was my first book of Cathy Maxwell. It was good. Fluffy easy read with little to no depth.
