About book The Bride Wore Blue (The Brides Of Bath) (2013)

I have mixed feelings about this book. As a Jane Austen fan, I liked the storyline which kept my attention, but I couldn't help but feel that there was just too many recycled plots and storylines that had been taken out of Ms. Austen's novels and dropped into the story. I lost count of them since there were so many, but here are a few of the ones that stuck with me:1)Thomas Moreland's description = Mr. Darcy's description2)Felicity's sister Glee going off to marry at Gretna Green = Elizabeth's sister Lydia sneaking off to marry George Wickham3)Carlotta's group picnic at the Ruins = Emma's group picnic at Box Hill4)Thomas' unusual secret benevolence = Mr. Darcy's unusual secret benevolenceIf the author would have relied more on her own creative plotlines without trying to come across as a newer version of Pride and Prejudice, I think I would have enjoyed it more.I liked Felicity in the beginning, but the more the story wore on, I started to dislike her and wondered what Thomas even saw in her. I found myself rolling my eyes at the part where Thomas used Carlotta to make Felicity jealous. It was just so immature and completely out of character for him even though he was the character I liked the most. There were some grammatical errors -- not too many. There were some very odd sentences and word choices that actually pulled me out of the story because I couldn't understand what the author was trying to convey. All in all, an enjoyable read, but it just felt too similar to other Jane Austen stories. This was pretty good, very quick and easy read. I didn't enjoy it as much as book 4 in the series though I really liked Thomas and Felicity. I don't care much for men trying to make women jealous and all that. I felt it drug on a little too long with all the miscommunication and oh he doesn't love me. Otherwise the books is well written and the characters are likeable. It would have been nice if they had married. My only real complaint is how abruptly the books by Bolen end. You turn the page and it's over and you're like....I read all of that and I get 2 short paragraphs of them finally saying I love you. LOL!
