About book The Devil And His Boy (2007)

''The Devil and His Boy'' is a good book for several reasons. First, I find this book good because its about a queen that was sleeping and then she went through a secret passage. I love stories with secret passages. Second, I find this book good because their is a magician who tells the queen of England secrets that he can see in his magic ball. i love magic and adventures. These are the reasons why i think this book is good.I gave the book ''The Devil and his Boy'' 3 stars for several reasons. First, I gave this book three stars because they still didn't get into the adventure. My favorite part of all books is the adventure. Second, I gave this book 3 stars because the book just started so I still don't know a lot about it. If I don't know a lot about the book then I cant get into the book that much. These are the reasons why I gave this book 3 stars. I like whats happening in this book for several reasons. First, I like whats happening in the book because their is a wizard cat, that can talk. A talking cat is weird, and i love weird things. Second, I like whats happening in this book because the queen asks the wizard to tell a very private secret that know one in the world knows. I like books that have private secrets. Those are the reasons why I like whats happening in this book.I also don't like this book for several reasons. First, I don't like this book because when the queen asks the wizard to reveal the secret, their is so much suspense. When their is too much suspense, I just want to break the book in half. Second, I don't like this book because sometimes the person who is talking doesn't get to his point. When the person who is talking doesn't get to his point, the story becomes confusing. Those are the reasons why I don't like this book. This book is very scary for several reasons. First, the adventure was very scary. It was scary because tom and the queen were going to die. Second, in this book a lot of people get hanged and killed. For example, in the end of the book, they show the five heads to Tom and that is very scary. Those are the reasons why this book is very scary.I added to stars of rating for several reasons. First, I added this book two stars because the adventure started. The adventure of this book was pure scariness. Second, I added this book two stars because it became so exciting. When a book becomes so exciting you cant put it down. Those are the reasons why i added two stars to this book.

An Historical novel for Horror fans:Tony Falconer has attracted the attention of Queen Elizabeth who has sent a knight to bring him to court. Unfortunately Tony loses the knight and now he has to flee to London as a nobody. His struggle is for survival for how can a nobody ever hope to reach the Queen? This book has accomplished what the Romantic writers (Dumas, Sabtini) have done so well. Take a few facts from history perhaps a rumor or two and create a great adventure story. There are dark scary undertones which helps to make this a fast pace and very enjoyable novel. Horowitz has done an excellent job of making Elizabethan England come to life while still making the story easy to read. (In other words he writes in plain English and does not use Elizabethan English) Horwitz also displays a dark ironic funny tone throughout the book which makes it a fun read. Horowitz also has a great ability to set up a whole picture and mood in a few words. An added plus is there are more real life characters then you think which Horowitz explains in his afterwords. He also has an introduction that sets up world of Elizabethan England.Quotes: "Magic has a nasty way of changing things. You cast a spell, you ask for secret knowledge, and before you know it, you have opened a barrel of worms ....or perhaps something worse than worms.""Slope smiled, but at the same time he looked both servile and sinister at the same time.""...and they stood solitary, dead in the pale glow of the moon.""Three days after he had left Framlingham, Tom lost his horse, his food, and almost his life.""Tom walked up slowly up the center aisle, its great stone pillars standing like an enchanted forest all around him.""From now on, Tom, you are mine. You must remember that. Do as you are told. And take care. We would hate anything accidental to happen to you...accidentally. You understand?"

Do You like book The Devil And His Boy (2007)?

I think that this book was very boring and confusing. Queen Elizabeth went downstairs in her castle in the dungan to her good friend the wizard to find if her "love" was still alive. In the next chapter we meet a 13 year old named Tom, and go with him on adventures through out the book. I thought this book was quit boring and there was no action. The wording was complicated and made me not understand what was going on. I would not remcomd this book for middle school students because it is very b

I really wanted this to be fantasy. Devil in the title, wizard in the first chapter - I wasn't crazy for expecting fantasy, was I? But it's really not. It's the story of Tom, a boy in the 16th century who finds himself plucked from his crappy country existence into a only slightly less crappy life on the streets of London, where he befriends Moll Cutpurse and aspires to become an actor. The whole plot was pretty predictable and the writing only so-so. Maybe I would have enjoyed this more were I still part of the intended age group, but I suspect I'd have been searching vainly for fantasy even then.

Anthony Horowitz is the screenwriter of one of my favorite shows, Foyle's War. I was surprised to discover that he has only written one adult book and many popular children's and young adult books. His most popular series is the Alex Rider series which focuses on a young espionage agent. In fact they just recently released a movie based on the first novel. This book is a stand alone, an adventure set in Elizabethan England. It is much better than I expected. It's very good for what it is, not quite a full novel, but more than a younger reader. It is short and moves quickly. It has just enough adventure, danger, and humor to keep kids interested. I thought some of the humor was unnecessary (like why is meeting Shakespeare always supposed to be funny in fiction?) But the action scenes were written well, and I must admit to enthusiastically staying up late to finishe the book last night.[return][return]Horowitz adds a bit of historical note at the end, which is nice. It would give a kid a chance to read more about the true characters of the book if they were so inclined. I, for one, would be interested in finding out more about Moll Cut-purse... but not so much about Gamaliel Ratsey... he sounds like a jerk.
