About book The Fine Art Of Insincerity: A Novel (2011)

I'm not quite sure what I think of this book. Hunt is definitely considered a Christian author, but finding the Christian content in this story is a bit of an Easter egg hunt. I'd call it more of a crossover book. I've read numerous reviews that criticize the number of marriages of the characters. It's not what we'd expect in a Christian novel, but serial marriages is certainly a cultural phenomenon, Christian population or not. But Hunt writes a good story, and that's the main thing. And it matters. The story is interesting and entertaining. The characters seem alive and real. The three main characters are three sisters with very different lives and personalities. I was especially awed by Penny, the sister who was MARRIED, but actively pursuing a relationship with a young doctor. Her flirtations with him in spite of the fact that she was married were exasperating to this wife who just celebrated her 31st wedding anniversary. I even had my hubby listen to a few minutes of Penny's flirtations with the doctor...light flirty conversations while she was thinking ahead to being a doctor's wife, etc. I enjoyed the story, but I also appreciate that underneath the surface there is a definite message about loving our friends and family, in spite of their differences.
