About book: This author has an amazing imagination. I kept being vaguely reminded of Scarlett Thomas' The End of Mr Y, which I loved. In places it was too graphic and explicit for me, sometimes the detailed description (like the food, and the different stages of Hell) had me skimming over, and I did feel like I missed something in the ending. However, it really had me bought in from the beginning. The intricacies of the plot and the wonderful characterisations make this a great read. This is definitely one I will read again. How am I supposed to read another book - any other book - after this? It was everything I didn't know I wanted in a story. I can't remember the last time I read a book this size in two days (my eyes don't like it), but it was AMAZING, and though I didn't want it to end, I couldn't seem to put it down. I had to leave it at work to keep from reading it instead of sleeping.I don't want to give a synopsis. I don't want to try to sell you on this book. Anything I said would fall woefully short of the sheer awesomeness. The story was exactly what the back cover claimed it would be, but it still managed to catch me completely by surprise while I was reading it. I didn't expect to fall face-first into this world and emerge a bit heartbroken that it was over.It has been a very long time since I've found a book I needed to devour, and I've been looking for one for a while. This was it. AMAZING. Amazing.
