About book The Infernals (2011)

I should have enjoyed this more than I did, but I had just come off a double dose of Gabaldon. I read Outlander for the third time and Dragonfly in Amber for the second. She is such a great author, she keeps popping up in other author's book reviews! I am anxious to get back to her, but i am going to force myself to read a few other books first.Connolly is an awful lot of fun though. Very imaginative and playful. OMG I love this sequel! Everyone is back including Ms. Abernathy, Nurd (no longer the scourge), Wormwood, and even Spigott's Peculiar makes a come back. There are also new companions including a group of mischievous elves or dwarves and an ice cream man. And of course Samual and his trustworthy dog, Boswell. After the terrible aftermath of the Earth invasion from demons, Hell breaks loose again (literally). But this time with an epic battle between demons and a lesson about portals and multiverses.I loved the rich and horrifying description of Hell, the types of demons, and the epic battle near the Mountain of Despair. John Connolly gives us a detailed scope of the underworld while adding humour and witty footnotes on each chapter. What spooked me were the Infernals, the scariest of the demons and who only answer to Ms. Abernathy who still hasn't gotten over with that happened in the first book. Even demons will pull a grudge, but then again they are demons who live in the worst part of the universe so I suppose one can understand their grudges.

Do You like book The Infernals (2011)?

Lots of fun, very tongue in cheek, very wonderfully odd kids and adults will love this book.

Fun and witty like the first... yet it took me weeks to work through it. I'm not sure why.

Not as funny as the first in the series, but still good.
