About book The Justice Game (2009)

I had a hard time figuring out what was happening at the beginning of this legal thriller because I had never heard of shadow juries. Didn't know what they were. Once I understood more about that, the read was enjoyable.Though its purpose is to entertain, and it does that well, the book also sheds light on what apparently happens behind the scenes in some high-profile trials--ones that are apt to affect the stock market. Lots of research gives good background information on the gun control issue too.I liked the complexity of some of the characters. People with good motives but methods bordering on the illegal were an interesting study. I wish I'd been able to figure out a little better who I should be rooting for, or at least trusting, earlier in the book. As it was I felt like I'd missed some feel-good moments along the way. Didn't know who they were until the end when the real good guys stood up and the bad guys fell down. But all in all, the book was fun to read. A real who-dunnit question that was not answered until the end. If you are a fan of John Grisham, I think you'll enjoy Randy Singer's books. The Justice Game is a fast-paced legal thriller that grabbed my attention from the very first pages. The book takes a look at the issues of gun control, jury selection, and powerful lobbies. Singer's characters are likable and help draw the reader in. Brad Carson and Kelly Starling are young, ambitious attorneys who are formidable foes in and out of the courtroom. Brad's relationship with his father, a cop who thinks that Brad is representing the wrong side of the issue helps add some drama. This was the first Randy Singer book I read. I've since devoured three more. I've been a fan of Grisham for years. Now I'm a fan of Singer too.

Fun read. It was a free book for the Kindle earlier in the year and I enjoyed reading it.

Grisham-esque style in a political thriller type book. Good characters and fast-moving.

Not a bad book, but it has a hidden religious agenda. Not my cup of tea.
