About book The Marrying Season (2013)

This is the best of the bunch in this trilogy. More fleshed out characters, a little bit of a mystery that needs solving before the happy ever after and a very appealing hero. We met Myles in the first book and he is also in the second book as a school friend of earlier heroes Gabriel and Alec. This time around he's on center stage. We start with a wedding that continues the story from the second book. The groom's sister, Genevieve is there and wishes for her own happy ending. A handsome lord enters and we jump ahead six months to see them engaged. However, a scandal ensues at a ball ending the engagement and plunging Genevieve into scandal until Myles steps up. He offers marriage. The proud Genevieve has known Myles for years but at first rejects the proposal. She's eventually made to see she must marry Myles and a quick ceremony takes place. Genevieve comes across as icy and too proud of her background but we see her start to thaw around Myles and then his family allowing us to see she was raised without a lot of love or affection.Of course, then the usual misunderstandings arise to bring some more drama. Nice use of the couples from the earlier books throughout. Rated 4.5; Review courtesy of Romance Junkies: When Genevieve receives a note asking her to meet her brother's friend, Sir Myles Thorwood, in the library, she does not question it. She arrives at her destination only to discover that Myles is not yet there. Instead, Genevieve runs into a drunken fool who tries to take advantage of her. She is in the midst of dealing with his unwanted advances when her betrothed, Lord Dursbury, along with several other people, enter the library. Before Genevieve has a chance to explain what is going on, her betrothed calls off their engagement. Myles is angry by Lord Dursbury's treatment of the whole situation. He hates that Genevieve's reputation is now in tatters, and so he begins to think up solutions for her problem. That is when Myles decides that he should just marry her himself. It really hurts his pride when Genevieve turns him down, but he stays persistent and soon she sees things his way. Marriage to Genevieve might just be the best thing that has ever happened to Myles. He can only hope he can keep someone as bright and wonderful as Genevieve in his life. THE MARRYING SEASON is the third novel in author Candace Camp's endearing LEGEND OF ST. DWYNWEN series. The characters are likeable and the dialogue is witty and fun. I could not have asked for a more riveting read. I stayed up late burning the midnight oil with this one and was truly sad to see it come to an end. My only consolation is that I know Ms. Camp will soon have another novel out for me to read that will be just as amazing.
