About book The Moonlit Mind (2011)

Ok technically this wasn't a full on book but a novella. It was in fact at the very end of my copy of 77 Shadow Street which I finished reading today. I liked this story a lot because it wasn't a long drawn out story. It was TO THE POINT, had very good characters including a dog and the story kept me interested from start to finish. It takes place across the street from the mansion in 77 Shadow Street. So you can assume this whole neighborhood is NOT a good place to live. This is a very good stand alone story however and it was a nice change from 77 Shadow Street. Its a very quick read and can be read in a day and again it's a great story. I would highly recommend it. Yes its a very short story but I would have to say its one of Koontz's best well crafted stories. As this was a novella, I was able to read all 120 pages at work tonight. Dean Koontz used to be one of my favorite authors, I read everything by him. Over the past ten years, that has changed because he has changed. Gone are the days of Watchers, Whispers, Midnight and Phantoms. This novella is one that I found predictable and not the least bit surprising. I almost stopped part way through because I am not a fan of stories involving devil worship or child sacrificing but, as it was just a novella, I pushed on.If you take away the dark side of the story and look at the characters, Crispin is a likable character, as is the dog Harley. I thought it jumped back and forth between the past and present too much to be comfortable reading - especially for a novella. Overall, I can honestly say I wish I hadn't read the book - I hope it doesn't affect my dreams. I give the story a C because it is wallows in predictability. No gore though so that kept it from getting a D. :-)

Do You like book The Moonlit Mind (2011)?

Strange, but not suspensful like the title implies. Not the best Koontz short story.

I enjoyed the book but it ended prematurely. It needs a sequel!
