About book The Noticer: Sometimes, All A Person Needs Is A Little Perspective (2009)

The author's hero is a kind old man named Jones. (But sometimes he is known as Garcia or Chen). Jones just seems to show up at just the right moment, when peoples lives are the most troubled, or when they are at an all time low. He shows up as their new "Best Friend" and he gives them Saintly, uplifting, heart felt advice. His main gig is that he helps to give them new perspective. He somehow is able to set them on a new path, towards some sort of Spiritual enlightenment. He helps them to "Move into the Light." The book is a story about life; mistakes, choices, and change. I think Jones is God or Jesus or an Angel or a Saint, whoever he is, he seems to cause some glorious, unexplained miracles to happen! I really enjoyed this simple, easy reading book! This Shakespearean quote addresses the issue of perspective: "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Sometimes we are so tied up in our circumstances -- that emotions, (self) justifications, the attribution of blame, and the obstinacy and refusal to consider/understand another point of view -- blinds us to the solution at hand, or to the light at the end of the tunnel. The change in perspective might start out as a little shift, but if you start off in the right direction, even that slight veering (away from wrong) will take you where you ought to be. Sometimes you need another person to point it out to you, as in this book, the noticer, does.

Really puts things into a different perspective I never thought of. I need a Jones in my life!
