About book The Park Service (2012)

The Park Service is an entertaining dystopian piece about a group of people, The Park Service, who have decided to recreate the future of mankind by falsifying information about a war that left all the land in peril and wiped out millions. Aubrey, the main character finds himself in an unbelievable situation when his wit lands him to an elevated location. Will this same wit help him outwit those who seek the continue to spread lies and demolish everything left standing? The Park Service is about making a decision to do right against the "right" you have always believed and to stand against those of power. Cool concept and some good surprises. The next two books fell short however. They dragged on and on with some unnecessary/unbelievable altruism. I actually listened to this on audible and the voice of the reader is super annoying which didn't help. I almost quit listening but I wanted to hear what happened. Hard to not be distracted by a voice that should be limited to lullabies - you know, that fake soft voice. Horrible. The trilogy has a whole lot of potential and while I really got into the big story and what the authors imagination would create for me, it just dragged on so much I couldn't wait for it to be over. And the ending of the complete trilogy was incredibly deflating and pretty much unbelievable anyone would choose what was chosen. Wish the stories had been edited more & also developed more. Better to sit on a book for awhile and get it just right than have it let you down (or exhaust the reader).
