About book The Twelfth Keeper (2000)

I enjoyed this more then i thought i would, it was one of those bored at lunchtime purchases as it tickled my fancy.First what i liked about this book is Kennedy. She isn't one of those yeah i can handle this very odd situation straight away because i'm a kick arse female. Kennedy is scared, she acts like a 16 year old girl, this i liked she felt totally believable and i liked her. Second thing i liked was that is was set in the future where space travel is possible and the way they communicate seems like something that could happen and three i love books with elements in, i have since i was a little girl. I enjoyed the way the author wrote this book, it felt very relaxed and down to earth and it was humorous :) Specially when Matilda was talking! Love Matilda. If you enjoy YA books or you're a YA this has to be part of your book collection. The Twelfth Keeper is a new and interesting series. It proves to be promising but there are some things I did not like about the first book. For one, it was too short. I basically read it in half a day. I also felt that there were storylines just left hanging. I don't see the connection between the world now and the future world in this book. I guess more will be explain but I still feel the author should have developed her dystopian world better. I think a lot of the book was wasted on Kennedy's self esteem issues more than anything else. I was waiting for her to get with the program so long that by the time she did something it was not even impressive. In fact none of these keepers are wowing me. Maybe if there was more parts spent on really illustrating the uniqueness and power of each keeper I could see why they were important. Either way, I do like the concept. I hope the next book will be better.3 Stars
