intrik yg berliku2, penuh misteri. cerita diawali dengan kolonel del dengan 4 org rekannya yg mencari tahu keberadaan Black Cobra. tp salah seorang dr mereka mati demi menyelamatkan barang bukti tntg siapa dalang dibalik black cobra..barang bukti itu sampai ditangan 4 org lainnya. perjuangan mereka dimulai dr sana, mereka berempat harus membawa barang bukti itu dr india ke inggris dg selamat. untuk mengecoh black kobra mereka membuat barang bukti yg tdinya cuma satu menjadi 4, dg hanya satu yg asli. mereka berempat kemudian berpencar, menempuh jalan yg berbeda kembali ke inggris untuk mengelabui kawanan Black Cobra. dr perjalanan ini lah Del bertemu dg Deliah yg membuatnya terpaksa menjaga gadia itu. perjalanan yg menegangkan membuat keduanya menjadi dekat dan menyadari perasaan satu sama lain. di novel ini juga hadir para cynster bersaudara, serta Royce dr bastion club. mereka seperti terhubung satu sama lain. senenag rasanya membaca kembali kisah2 mereka. tp membuat cerita ini jd kurang sedikit terpusat pd Del dan Deliah. tp tidak mengurangi keintiman yg disuguhkan dlm cerita ini. The first in a series of four novels that are connected to the Cinsters series.This one deals with the first man in the Black Cobra Quartet. Five British officers in India are tasked with finding the leader of the Black Cobra which is terrorizing the populace. The officers after many months of surveillance are nowhere near figuring out who the leader is. One of them strikes gold when he intercepts/finds a letter signed by the leader, except that the letter was signed with the culprit's own signet; this was the clue they were hoping for and said officer pays with his life for the evidence.This sets the officers into a race back to England and into the hands of friends (the Cinsters) to deliver the evidence into the right hands. All four of them take different routes to England and on their way, they get tangled with women who will turn their world upside down.This is a romance novel so it's expected that there'll be premarital hanky-panky. There's marriage when the dust settles, but I still find it amusing that they can't keep it in their pants and have to have a taste of the forbidden fruit. This was still a good beginning to the series and I was looking forward to the other three books by the time I finished.
Love this series. 4 books with the same time line. On a mission during a changing time.
