About book: 4.5 starsGreat historical romance fiction. I loved it! (though I did skim some of the historical bits, they just we so long and I didn't care enough to concentrate on them).Summary: Carrie settles into the shadow of Slains Castle in Scotland, creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors, and starts to write about the Jacobite invasion of 1708. When she can no longer tell the difference between today and centuries ago, is she dealing with an ancestral memory--a memory that might destroy her? 2.5 stars. I actually read the sequel to this book first. I'm glad I did because I really liked The Firebird and I might not have read it if I had read this one first. This book is too loooong. There is very little action and drama. Most of the time I like a pleasantly boring book. This one was just boring. I did enjoy leaving my stressful life behind for a bit and joining the main character in a cozy cottage by the sea (with a love interest who was a professor who looks like a pirate). Too bad the story wasn't better.
