Thierry’s Angel by Shara Azod is another installment of the Chevalier cousins and this time it is no nonsense Thierry Chevalier who finds himself out of place as he struggles to convince Angelique Dubois they belong together. A Chevalier novel by Shara Azod is a guaranteed success and Thierry’s Angel is no less. There is a great plot with very realistic characters that bring the story to life. There are humorous moments, somber moments, and sizzling hot moments and overall this is a love story that gives utter satisfaction. Thierry is a gruff character but Angelique brings out his milder side. It is with the gentlest nudge from Thierry that Angelique also finally comes into her own and realizes she needs to stop being a chess piece for her mother and become the ruler of her own destiny. Visiting with the rest of the Chevalier cousins is like seeing old friends. Thierry’s Angel is an interracial romance but what stands out is the undoubted love between them. With the Chevalier matriarch’s disapproval of their mixed race union, they go through hell to be together but they survive and in the end their love will stand the test of time.Thierry Chevalier’s love for Angelique Dubois borders on obsession but he doesn’t care because he knows, she’s his woman. For years he’s watched her, waiting for the right time to declare his feelings. Then he is shocked and outraged to discover Angelique dancing at a gentlemen’s club to deal with her inhibitions. No woman of his is going to show her treasures to a room full of leering men and Thierry decides it is time to declare his intentions. Angelique Dubois is stunned to learn of Thierry’s feelings but she soon warms to his affections. However, there is one slight problem; Angelique is promised in marriage to another. Shara is a great writer and I have actually talked with her online she is very nice and so gracious. I love the entangled and slightly twisted families of Thierry and Angelique! This is the first book of the Chevalier series and in my opinion he best; I highly recommend this novel. My next favorite one in the series is Forever Jade- the remaining Chevalier books are a little to light on the same narrative detail and storytelling,character build up that make the other 2 books so special!
