About book Thirty-Two And A Half Complications (2014)

I am still loving Rose Gardner Mysteries but had a few issues with this one more than the others. For one, I found the number of potential bad guys and visions Rose had in this book a little hard to follow because there were so many. As for the characters, I love Rose's continuing growth and increasing strength (despite her reluctance to take a pregnancy test for what seemed to be weeks). I feel so proud of her when she actually tells off Violet or stands up to Skeeter! It's a little odd to see Violet change from the protective big sister in the first book to flat out mean and ugly at this point. I look forward to hopefully getting to the bottom of her issues in future books and Rose standing up for herself even more. Even though Joe has become more and more ridiculous over the past couple books and overbearing, I can't help but want to see him end up with Rose. Mason is growing on me, but just as Joe wants to protect Rose so much, Mason's cheerleader approach and constant mushiness toward her is also annoying and a little too unrealistic. Sometimes it's like he's there just to reassure her that she is smart and wonderful and all that jazz. It'd be nice if the guy Rose was with didn't always have to seem like he's older and wiser than her, but that they're more equals. What I actually loved, was Rose's storyline involving Skeeter. I like how they play off each other and am excited about where Rose's dealings with him may lead. And the end. Oh my, the end. I think I may have gasped with shock, frustration and sadness at the very end. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. Another great book from of my new favorite authors! I got the first book in the series as a free Kindle book from Amazon and this was a brilliant move on their part (both Amazon and the author). I have since purchased each subsequent book and actually pre-ordered this one. The story stays fresh as poor Rose makes her way through the many changes in her life and learns who she can trust with her secret and her heart. Rose remains fresh and innocent yet is no longer afraid to stand up for herself and put the difficult people in her life in their place. If only she could stand up to her sister. Violet has quickly become my least favorite person in Henrietta…which says a lot considering Skeeter and Scooter Malcolm live there too!The mystery portion of this book is fresh and new. I actually learned something new about the criminal underground! And although Rose does sometimes find herself is trouble due to her own bad decisions, this time around, it wasn’t really her fault at all. Wrong place, wrong time, and all that. I love that each book has its own mystery that is solved by the end but then there are also ongoing story lines and always a cliffhanger that leaves me wanting more, more, more right now!
