About book Three To Ride (2010)

A friend recommended me this book. After reading a short story from the same series, which I didn't like, I decided to give it another go. It's a good thing my friend warned me to read this without my red pen in my virtual hand. At the beginning especially, I had a hard time not to roll my eyes and abandon the story. But here's the thing. The plot is actually decent. The characters actually have a few layers and a few hang ups. The heroine is actually a strong person who stands her ground. The characters actually communicate. Ok, they do most of the talking during the sex (what is it with sex and chatting??) but, they talk and the miscommunication actually only lasts a week or so.Rachel is on the run from a stalker who isn't even really an ex. As a reader we learn that the stalker is a cop, and so she knows she won't be safe anywhere. She runs with the help of an unexpected gift and ends up in Bliss, a strange Colorado town with open minded people and the compulsory nut job. She lands a job as a waitress. In comes Max, hot headed macho man who falls for her even before he has spoken more than two syllables with her. In comes Rye, Max's twin, who also falls for her. But this time Max doesn't want to share, because Rachel won't be able to handle it (of course he totally discussed that with her... Oh wait no he didn't). Rachel is very much willing but doesn't say so because she doesn't want to hurt Max. And Rye is slowly going blind as he excuses himself yet again to relieve some pressure in his jeans. Oh and there's Tommy, the nut job who really, really isn't going to let Rachel go. The book gets progressively better as the story goes on. My only thing is that there might be too much in the story. Too many elements to the plot which makes it feel a bit rushed at the end. But, granted, apart from the ridiculous sex in the beginning, the book gets better. The dialog gets better. Rachel gets stronger and holds her ground in such a totally untypical way it made me smile. FINALLY a heroine who is strong on her own!The threesome scenes come across as natural. I guess a lot of women fantasize about two men sharing her without the jealousy setting in, and the emotions are done well. I was sorry the story stopped so quickly after they finally found each other. I would've enjoyed seeing a lot more of their dynamic. The book is funny, too. With Wii-controllers serving to chase away the aliens (devious little creatures) and a Dom who is too suave for his own good, I will easily admit that I read the story in a day. Chances are good I'll be buying the next part of this series, too. This was a terrific read! I love everything about this series. Lexi Blake makes me wish for a place just like Bliss, Colorado. The quirky town with all it's fun-loving, misunderstood people and the way they accept each other and bind together in times of need. Every story in the series is unique and pulls you in from the beginning. Love, lust and danger lurks all around. The characters are easy to fall for. Hot, domineering, alpha males and their independent yet compassionate women that throw their lives in chaos while loving every minute of it.Rye and Max Harper are twins. Their whole lives they wanted one thing. To find a women that will accept their need to share her and make a life and family together. They have given up hope of ever finding The One.
Rachel Swift is tired of being on the run and finds a home in Bliss Colorado. When she meets Max and Rye she is drawn to them both and that scares her. Could she possibly have a life with both of them. As they fight for their new-found love Rachel's stalker has other plans that could cost them all their lives.Reviewed by Kristin
