About book Troubletwisters (2011)

3.5I think people have been a bit harsh with this book.yes it is predictable but childrens books often are. its more about the characters and environment both of which I liked in this book.It was slow at times but not slow enough for me to put down and read something else. this to me seems aimed at a much younger audience than garth nix's old Kingdom series so maybe people expected something different then what they got.overall if you like children uncomplicated adventures this is tje book for you. but get it out a library first to check if you like it. 2.5 stars. I can't stop thinking "Did Garth Nix really have anything to do with this?" After all, he is the most amazing author of all time! With him as one of the authors of this book how did it end up barely rating more than 2 stars?! I just couldn't get into it. The sense of mystery was kept up for like half of the book before anything actually happened. It's okay to keep up the mystery for a little while, but half the book? No way! Their was also almost no character development. Jack and Jaide are jumping on a trampoline, get a letter and then...boom!...suddenly their house is doing some kind of weird space-warp thing and explodes. Then they go off to live with their grandma. The rest of the first half of the book is taken up with myyysteeeriiouuus things happening. Basically, they were just thrust into this weird situation within the first few pages and their was no chance for character development or anything. Then, when the action finally starts, it isn't as exciting is it should be. Sure, the worm monster in the sewer was cool, but after that the action gets kind of artificial and flat. Also, with only danger in the whole story being the Evil, it got pretty redundant. The whole idea of the Evil coming from another dimension is cool, but the book isn't that good. I might not bother finishing the series.
