About book Tyger Tyger (2010)

there were some things left unexplained, and others poorly explained. An example is explaining how something is pronounced as if the one being talked to can see spelling and hear them while listening. the editor really should have pointed that out. in gaelic, the word banshee has a mere accent, so why would the listener correct the speaker based on spelling, ban sidhe? lame! and parts of the story were inconsistent. another thing not caught. The real reason I picked up this book is because of its beautiful cover. All of the Goblin Wars novels are fortunate enough to have enchanting covers. I don't think that the blurb does the book much justice as there is much more to the story than that. I enjoyed the fact that Tyger Tyger was filled Celtic legends, it made this book unique and I am a sucker for legends.I liked the characters in this novel, for example Finn, the male lead. I think that if you read this book and did not find yourself slightly attracted to Finn by the last page you must be mentally ill. Although he is a bit full of himself, a humble Finn would not be the same as he would lack that confidence that Finn posses. He was quite interesting and is not your typical male lead, possibly because he was irish which is uncommon in American novels. I also quite liked Abby, Teagan's best friend, because of her...spunk. I'm sure everybody has that one outspoken friend, this made the book relatable and even though Abby makes few appearances in this novel she is often used as the comic relief. The one character that I was really disappointed with was Teagan. This is becoming a common conundrum in young adult novels as in my opinion it wrecks the entire book. It makes the leading character seem weak and it is difficult to connect with them. WARNING SPOILER ALERT: I really liked the love story between Finn and Teagan, although it was a bit farfetched, it was quite romantic. I would like to point out the depressing fact that Teagan and Finn fell in love with each other entirely due to their looks e.g when Finn walked through the door and saw Teagan, he almost fell over he was so in love. Hamilton added little things that were quite effective like sparks whenever Finn and Teagan touched to show just how strong their love was.Tyger Tyger is filled with some great ideas that had the potential to make this novel amazing however lack of planning resulted in a lack of solid plot.
