About book Verdronken Hart (2012)

I absolutely loved this book. It had just the right amount of mystery and suspense. I found that it was very well written and that I could identify with most of the characters or at least have known someone like them. However, the only thing that I found a little unclear was why Birdie was the way she was...incredibly mean spirited. I think it kind of/sort of led you to believe what the reason was, but never really said for certain or explained it much. Other than that, I thought the book was great and I'll be passing it on to my friends who are readers. THIS SUMMARY/REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST. ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLYI found this one to be a tedious read, yet I couldn't stop reading it. I hated Birdie from the start. I thought she was a bitter shrew, who brought all the unhappiness she felt to her life herself. I found it funny that she didn't realize it, but blamed everyone else. With Birdie being her mother, I was surprised by how normal Kate was. I loved the woman that she was, that her kids and husband were important to her. It seemed like she did the exact opposite of what her mother did.I am torn with Emily. I liked her, but she made some of the stupidest decisions every and with each one she dug herself in deeper. The events at the end of the book were harrowing, I felt for all the women, but each of them stepped up. I found the back story with the journals and what happened in the past to be slightly interesting, but by the end, I was just glad that it was the end.
