About book Vital Signs (1991)

I had really high hopes for Robin Cook after reading 'Mindbend'. But this book never met my expectations. Robin Cook should have sticked to his cup of tea - the medical field. Instead he takes us on a wild goose chase, starting from America to Australia, then to Hong Kong and then to China. And somewhere in the middle, the plot was completely lost. The initial scenes were really wonderful and I felt I had stumbled upon a fantastic book after a long search. But then that joy did not last long. The author needed only 2 pages to give answers to all the mysteries that surrounded the hospitals. All the other pages were just covered by chases, murders and travels. What on earth was the protagonist doing travelling all round the globe on a wild goose chase? And even after all those adventures, I never really got my answers. I guessed the plot right from the start and it took the author 400 pages to tell me that my guess was right. The characters were loosely developed except for Marissa and Wendy. Three - fourth of the book was like reading some fantasy book. I wonder how such a big treachery were left unnoticed except for a pediatrician. The author surely has written better books. Overall, a pretty ordinary book with a promising start that loses its way in the middle. For more reviews, view my blog!www.giribookworld.blogspot.in

Do You like book Vital Signs (1991)?

In "Vital Signs" by Roblin Cook reintroduces the character Marissa Blumenthal from his earlier book "Outbreak". Marissa's desperate attemted to get pregnant sends her on an Australian adventure with her friend from college Wendy. They soon team up with Dr. Tristan Williams, a man who wrote an article about the exact contition that Marissa and Wendy have that prevent them from getting pregnant. They encounter many difficulties when they travle to Hong Kong for more answers such as the chinese mofia and bordercontrol. I thought this book was very interesting and very well reasearched. There lots of words that I didn't understant that delt with medical termanology. Robin Cook is known as a medical thriller novelist. I would reconment this book to people who like lots of action. I would also recomend it to people who like medical novels.

This book started off with a lot of promise. I received this book as a hand-me-down - I get many of my books this way - but the story quickly unraveled. Rather than stick with medicine, there's now espionage and attempted murder. While a good thriller can have medicine and murder all in one, this book is unfortunately not one of them.I found myself plodding through the book, quickly reading it just so I could get to the end. This is the first Robin Cook book I have read, and from what I see in the reviews, this is not the best work. I might pick up another Cook book, but if I ever buy one, I will make sure to check the reviews first. The ending to this book was unsatisfying and disappointing, with no real solution. The whole conspiracy of the Women's Clinic was interesting, but fell flat on delivery in this book. It might provide a diversion in the waiting room or on a airplane, but really, it's not worth reading.

Marissa Buchanan can not been able to conceive after three rounds of IVF and now, going into the fourth round, the stress, hormones, and emotional rise-and-falls have begun to strain her relation with her husband. While Vital Signs by Robin Cook promises an investigation of the emotional issues of IVF, the plot quickly spins out of control to include international conspiracies together with organized and disorganized criminals, and surprising number of cold-blooded murders. http://1book42day.blogspot.com/2012/0...
